Send your request
Email admin@jaycarehospital.com, preferably from the email used for your app account. Tell us you want to delete your Jaycare app account. If you no longer have access to that email, tell us so we can arrange an alternative identity check.
Do not include your password, one-time codes, bank/card details, medical records or identity-document attachments. An email address alone is not proof of account ownership; staff will explain the appropriate verification steps.
Verification, timing and cancellation
After verifying your identity and request, staff will confirm the scheduled deletion date. The app’s standard grace period is 14 days; your confirmation states the date that applies to your account. Staff can complete a verified request sooner. If verification or a technical issue delays completion, contact the same mailbox for an update.
To cancel before completion, reply to the hospital’s confirmation email or use Cancel deletion in the app. Simply signing in does not cancel a request. Once deletion is complete, the old app account cannot be restored; you can register again and complete any required hospital-record verification.
Request from the app
- Open Account.
- Choose Privacy & security.
- Choose Delete my account and confirm.
- Review the displayed date. Use Cancel deletion before completion if you change your mind.
What is removed
- Your app profile details, password hash and Google/Apple sign-in association are removed or anonymised.
- Active sessions, sign-in challenges, device registrations and push receipt records associated with the account are removed.
- Family-access permissions granted to this app account are revoked and pending account-linking or guardian-access requests are cancelled.
- Where Apple sign-in was used, Jaycare revokes the stored Apple credential as part of completing deletion.
What is retained
Policy approved by Dr Chinyere Obi, Medical Director; privacy reviewer: Dr Chinyere Obi, Chief Medical Director (CMD). Approval date: 14 October 2026.
A legal hold suspends deletion of the affected records beyond their normal retention period during ongoing treatment, a complaint or dispute, litigation, an NDPC or other regulatory investigation, an insurer or HMO audit, or a clinical research protocol requiring longer retention. Only the compliance or legal lead may lift the hold, in writing.
A hold concerns the affected records; retaining hospital records does not by itself prevent deletion of an app account. PDFs or receipts you have saved or shared outside Jaycare are not removed from those destinations.
Deleting an app account does not cancel an appointment, settle a bill or delete another patient’s account or medical records. Contact the hospital separately for those requests.
- Adult medical records: 10 years from the last episode of care (last treatment or discharge).
- Children’s medical records: until age 25 or 10 years after the last treatment, whichever is later.
- Deceased patients’ records: 10 years after death. Where clinical retention rules overlap, the later expiry date applies.
- Billing, invoices and payment records: 6 years after the end of the financial year of the transaction. The hospital’s financial year ends on 31 December.
- Account-verification records and security/audit logs: 2 years after the event. Medical-record access logs are retained for the same period as the corresponding medical record.
- Backups: deleted data may remain for up to 35 days (a 30-day rolling cycle plus a buffer), then expires. A restore must not bring deleted data back into live use; deletion must be reapplied before restored data becomes available.
